Emory Tate is an American chess player. He was born on December 1, 1986 in Washington, DC. His father was an international chess master and his mother worked as a catering assistant. Tate was raised in Chicago and Goshen. He began playing chess at the age of four. At the age of thirteen, he won the National Junior High School Championship.
